Safeguarding is not only a professional duty but also a shared moral responsibility that connects us across communities, cultures, and generations. In our unwavering commitment to promoting law-abiding citizenship and community safety, we partnered with Afrikindness, an organisation dedicated to fostering racial harmony and creating inclusive environments where children can thrive. Together, we organised safeguarding training for parents and community leaders.
The training took place on September 28, 2025, at Blackburn Hall, Commercial Street in Leeds. The training started with a keynote speech by his Worshipful Councillor Dan Cohen, who emphasised the critical importance of safeguarding children and protecting them from abuse. The trainers, Dr Pedi Obani and Bumi Owolabi, the CEO of Afrikindness, highlighted that the training aimed to equip parents, leaders, and community members with the tools necessary to keep children safe while strengthening our cultural values and heritage.
Safeguarding requires vigilance, compassion, and collaboration. Whether we are parents, educators, community leaders, or volunteers, each of us has a role to play in ensuring that children and families are safe, protected, and supported.
This gathering represents more than just training; it is a powerful statement of our shared commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us, ensuring that every child, every family, and every individual in our communities feels safe, supported, and valued.
